NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A clause in a former Director of Metro Schools' severance package has led some school board members to sue.
Board members Amy Frogge, Jill Speering and Fran Bush say their 1st and 14th Amendment rights are being violated by a clause in Dr. Shawn Joseph's severance agreement.
The agreement included a clause which says any statements against Joseph and his performance cannot be made by school board members.
The plaintiffs voted against the clause at the time, but it still passed 5 to 3.
Joseph's contract was bought out by the school board last year following questions raised by NewsChannel 5 Investigates.
