Metro Nashville teachers celebrated the fact they'll receive larger raises than expected, but they were still cautious.
Educators packed Tuesday night's School Board budget hearing to discuss the three percent raise for all salaried employees.
Teachers said they appreciate the gesture, but want to make sure the board continues to increase their pay going forward.
"My pay has stayed the same while the cost of living has skyrocketed up," said one teacher in attendance.
"We need to be the best paid teachers in the state, period," said another teacher.
The proposed budget will be presented to the Metro Council on Monday, which teachers were encouraged to attend.
