Middle Tennessee Electric executive charged with child rape

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — Murfreesboro Police arrested a Middle Tennessee Electric executive after he was indicted on child rape charges.

Vice President of Information Systems Dane Appalsammy was arrested Monday afternoon.

In February of 2020, the Department of Children's Services notified Murfreesboro Police of possible sex abuse between Appalsammy and a 9-year-old child, according to the arrest report.

The case was presented to the Rutherford County Grand Jury. Appalsammy was indicted on three counts of aggravated sexual battery, solicitation of a minor, and three counts of rape of a child.

Middle Tennessee Electric released the following statement:

"MTE is aware of this situation and is engaged with our teammate as he works through these serious allegations to clear his name. We will remain diligent in monitoring the legal process as it unfolds."
