NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Country Music star helped local animals find loving homes during a free adoption event at Metro Animal Care and Control.

Miranda Lambert's foundation "MuttNation" covered all adoption fees for dogs and cats.

The shelter is currently at capacity, with around 50 dogs and 30 cats up for adoption.

Many people took advantage of the opportunity to take home a new furry family member for free on Saturday.

"It gets people out, it gets people out here that normally wouldn't have come," Animal Care Supervisor J.D. White said. "It gives dogs and cats the opportunity to get out of this building."

All pets adopted during the event received veterinary care, evaluations, were spayed or neutered and microchipped for free.
