NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — An armed home invasion suspect finds himself in the hospital after police say the person inside the apartment he was trying to rob took his gun away and shot him.

The incident happened just before 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon on Bonnabrook Drive in Hermitage.

The resident of the apartment told police the armed suspect had forced his way inside, but that's when the resident took the suspect's gun away.

MNPD say the resident then shot several times at the suspect causing him run away from the scene.

A person matching the suspect's description walked in to Summit Medical Center a short time later with gunshot wounds to his shoulder and hip.
