NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Metro Nashville Police officer was indicted on rape and sexual battery charges Thursday.

Officer Jeremy Arrington surrendered to police Thursday night. The alleged assault happened on April 6 when the 25-year-old victim visited him while he was off duty at his Bell Road apartment. She reported it on May 12.

That's when the MNPD Sex Crimes Unit launched a criminal investigation and the Office of Professional Accountability launched an administrative investigation. Arrington was placed on desk duty while the investigations were ongoing.

A Sex Crimes detective appeared before the Davidson County Grand Jury Thursday morning, resulting in the sealed indictment. He was indicted on a total of 12 counts and his bond was set at $25,000.

The administrative investigation, which is separate and secondary to the criminal case, remains open. Arrington graduated from the MNPD Academy in December 2017.
