NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Chief of Human Resources for Metro Nashville Schools discussed the recent Colorado school shooting and what it means for Metro students.

Tony Majors says gun safety standards need to be part of the conversation, but that we also have to be proactive with kids.

"Instead of just always reacting with are the kids going to be arrested, are they going to be expelled, how can we take a proactive stance to say what are the things that we can do both as a community, in our individual homes; so the kids don't go down the path that lead to arrest and incarceration," said Majors.

Majors also said we need to engage young people outside of schools.
