NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Metro Nashville Public Schools security officer was charged for allegedly assaulting a 12-year-old student.
Police officials say 40-year-old Andre Tyus surrendered to officers Thursday. Police say he assaulted the student while at school by lifting him up by the arms and holding him off the ground against a wall.
The child's mother called police on Nov. 16 when she notices the boy had several bruises on his body.
The investigation also revealed video of the incident from inside the school. Police say Tyus initially denied the allegation when he was interviewed by a detective until he was informed that the police had viewed video from the school.
Tyus’ bond on the assault charge is set at $2,500.
