A bomb squad responded to the scene of a home where a pipe bomb was found.

Emergency responders were called to the 3700 Block of Heather Drive Tuesday around 11 a.m. in reference to a possible pipe bomb inside of the home.

When officers arrived, they found the device under the steps inside of the garage.

Officers taped off the home, evacuated nearby houses, and notified the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad.

The bomb squad removed the pipe bomb from the residence, and disabled the device.

No one was harmed during the incident. Heather Drive was closed to pedestrian and through traffic until about 2:50 p.m.

It was unclear who placed the bomb there or why.
