A Montgomery County deputy has been charged with official misconduct and assault.
Sheriff’s officials confirmed an incident occurred on June 16 between booking Deputy Mario Pearrie and an inmate.
No additional details were provided.
Pearrie was placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation. Officials said that investigation concluded on June 23 as did Deputy Pearrie's employment.
"We take every incident that occurs in our facility very seriously. The fact that this incident involved an employee of this office has no bearing on our obligation to uphold the law," said Sheriff John Fuson.
Pearrie was later arrested for official misconduct and assault. He was taken into custody on September 16 and was released after posting bond.
