CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man and his mother have been arrested in Kentucky after they fled Tennessee after alleged involvement in a homicide in Clarksville.

Joseph Morris, 24, was wanted for his role in a shooting that left one dead in the early morning hours of Sunday.

Dispatchers received a call that several shots had been fired in the area od Sanders Road and Earl Slate Road and that a man was seen running down the street.

When officers arrived they found the body of 35-year-old Matthew Nelson. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation quickly led police to Morris, whose mother, upon learning of the alleged crime, attempted to drive her son out of Clarksville and to Indiana.

The pair were arrested in Elizabethtown when they were stopped by the Kentucky State Police.

Susan Ficklin, 47, has now been charged with Accessory After the Fact/Criminal Homicide and is now being held in Hardin County, Kentucky without bond as she awaits extradition back to Clarksville.

Morris, Ficklin's son, is also in custody and is being charged with Criminal Homicide. He is also awaiting extradition.
