A child is expected to be okay after being left alone in a vehicle for 90 minutes while his mother shopped.
According to police, 20-year-old Kateria Williams left her 2-year-old son in the car while she shopped at the Ross in the 6800 block of Charlotte Pike in West Nashville.
A passerby saw the child in the vehicle crying around 10:35 p.m. Friday and contacted authorities.
The car was running with the air conditioning on, and the child had been in the vehicle for an hour and a half.
His clothes were soiled with urine, and that, plus the air-conditioning, had dropped his temperature to 96.2 degrees.
The child was taken to the hospital before being released to his grandmother. Williams was charged with child neglect.
