Metro Nashville Police officers brought a woman from Pennsylvania to Nashville on murder and child neglect charges in connection to the death of her daughter in 2016.

Marilyn Elizabeth Slope, 35, was extradited Thursday night. She was indicted in the murder of her 12-year-old daughter Shirley Slope in February of 2016.

According to police, Marilyn, Shirley and two acquaintances were taking a road trip from Ball, Louisiana, where they lived in a mobile home without utilities, to Ohio.

Investigators said Shirley, who suffered from juvenile diabetes was sick when they left Louisiana on Feb. 9, but was not given any treatment.

By the time they made it to Tennessee, the child’s condition deteriorated to the point that she was unresponsive while on I-40 in Henderson County.  A Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper and other agencies responded.

Shirley was airlifted from Wildersville to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she later died as a result of the alleged neglect.

Marilyn Slope’s bond was set at $100,000.
