Motorcyclist Identified In Fatal East Nashville Crash

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police have released the identity of the man killed when his motorcycle collided with a vehicle in east Nashville.

Officials with Metro Police said 30-year-old Christopher James Matteson traveling north on South 12th Street when he lost control of the motorcycle and collided with another vehicle.

The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Police said the other driver was attempting to parallel park at the time of the crash. Matteson reportedly lost control shortly before impact.

His motorcycle skidded into a nearby parked vehicle.

Matteson was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died. The driver of the SUV, identified as 28-year-old Kyle Woodcock, was not hurt.

Police said preliminary reports indicate Matteson’s speed and Woodcock’s failure to maintain the travel lane were the contributing factors in the crash.

According to police, the case would be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review after the investigation is complete.
