MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police are investigating vandalism of a Mt. Juliet church that happened overnight.
Global Vision Bible Church on Old Lebanon Dirt Road was covered with graffiti Sunday morning. Spray paint was also found on the pastor's outdoor pulpit, a rental tent, folding chairs and the church sign.
Wilson County Sheriff's Office said no one entered the church and that there was no damage inside.
Sunday morning's service was still held.
Pastor Greg Locke said he believes the crime is related to political consultant Roger Stone being scheduled to speak at next week's service. Some of the vandalism featured Locke's and Stone's names.
Stone was convicted of several crimes in connection to an investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, including lying to Congress and obstruction of justice. He was set to begin a 40-month prison sentence before the president issued a pardon in July.
The Sheriff's Office says they do not know who is responsible for the vandalism. They are planning for extra patrol at the church.
