A Mt. Juliet Police officer broke out the window of an SUV in order to save a toddler sweating in the vehicle.

Officials said a citizen saw the child alone in the SUV in the Walgreens parking lot on Crossings Lane and called police.

Once the officer got there, they saw that the vehicle was not running and that the 2-year-old was sweating; so they broke out the window to get to the child.

Medics responded and checked the toddler who was okay. The mother, 30-year-old Mariam Banoub of Mt. Juliet, was found inside the store with a 4-year-old girl.

Officers believe she intentionally left in the vehicle unattended for about 42 minutes.

Banoub was arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail, charged with leaving a child unattended in a motor vehicle, child neglect, and resisting arrest.

The children were released to the father. While waiting on the father, the children were cared for by a female officer on scene.
