MOUNT JULIET, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Mt. Juliet Police Department is encouraging women to be prepared for the worst. It's beginning a self-defense class in May.

The department's own officers teach The Equalizer Women's Self-Defense Program. The goal is to educate women on recognizing and reducing the risk of being victimized by violent crime, including how to survive and escape a physical attack.

Classes are held every Saturday in May. Click here for more information on how to sign up.
