Bus schedules and routes have been changed in light of road closures and traffic concerns due to the presidential visit.
Wednesday's presidential visit will not be the first for Nashville, city and school administrators have done this before with little knowledge as to what exactly will happen.
"There's just a lot of unknowns and there's no way to get around that," said MNPS Transportation Director Taffy Marsh.
She has anticipated Air Force One landing right around the time elementary and middle schools are dismissing. "If he doesn't land until 3 p.m. we'll be right in the middle of delivering our elementary students and then everything after that will be delayed," said Marsh.
If it's necessary students will be held at schools until roads re-open. Around 350 to 500 students in the McGavock cluster are expected to be impacted the most. "We have several back up plans, we've looked at all of the routes in and out of the schools that will be affected," said Marsh.
Around 5,000 metro students ride MTA buses, which will also be impacted by the presidential visit. Commuters who typically catch the bus at Music City Central will need to head over to Music City Center, specifically on 6th Avenue, between Korean Veterans Boulevard and Demonbreun Street.
All of the MTA detours are expected to change at some point so in order to keep with the changes, MTA encourages riders to follow them online and on social media.
