MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - Middle Tennessee has issued statements from coach Rick Stockstill and linebacker Roderic Blunt apologizing for Blunt's actions in the Armed Forces Bowl.
Blunt was ejected from Middle Tennessee's 24-6 loss to Navy on Monday after receiving two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.
Stockstill said Tuesday in a statement that "I have strived to run a first-class program and I do not condone this type of play." Stockstill said he called Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo and quarterback Keenan Reynolds plus Armed Forces Bowl executive director Brant Ringler to apologize.
Blunt apologized to Reynolds, Navy and his own teammates and coaches. Blunt said "it was my last college game and emotions were at an all-time high. But there is still no excuse for my actions and know this is not a reflection of Blue Raider football."
