MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — Troopers say they're looking for a passenger who ran from a three-car crash on Interstate 24 in Murfreesboro.
The crash happened early Monday morning near Joe B. Jackson Parkway. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said a vehicle was stopped in the road and two oncoming vehicles couldn't avoid hitting it. Both vehicles veered off the interstate, where one of them overturned.
Three people were airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The extent of their injuries was not available.
Troopers said a passenger from the stopped vehicle ran from the area. That person has not yet been caught.
THP said charges are pending in the case but did not provide additional details.
The interstate reopened around 11:15 a.m. after being closed for hours.
