CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A road was closed for a short time while crews responded to a fiery crash in Clarksville that sent an elderly woman to the hospital.

The five-vehicle crash happened Monday afternoon at the intersection of Warfield Boulevard and Rossview Road.

Officers say an elderly woman in her 80s collided with a Jeep and then a Honda van. At that point the Honda hit an Infiniti forcing it into a Toyota Four Runner. At some point, a fire began which spread to four out of the five vehicles - three of which were fully engulfed.

Investigators say there was no indication the elderly woman hit the brakes at all.

She was flown to a Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition. No one else was seriously hurt.
