NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A murder suspect has been taken into after a man was fatally shot six months ago in Nashville.

Officials with Metro police said 27-year-old Aweis Haji-Mohamed has been arrested for the murder of Isiah Starks earlier this year.

He was taken into custody around 10:20 p.m. after police found him hiding inside the trunk of a vehicle at the Lexington Apartments.

He was named a suspect only hours after the shooting took place.

Investigators have been searching for him ever since. They believe he has been in the Nashville area the entire time.

Details about his arrest are not known at this time.

Haji-Mohamed has been accused of shooting Starks outside an apartment complex on 1st Avenue South back on February 9.

Police said Starks had been arguing with his girlfriend, when he walked away to speak with two men who had pulled up in a vehicle. They said one of those men was Haji Mohamed, who allegedly shot Starks in the head, and then drove off.

Starks was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

Haji-Mohamed has also been charged with possessing a gun during his arrest. A court date was set for August 27.
