Business Owner Claims He's Being Targeted

A business owner in Murfreesboro claimed he was targeted for his political views, after he said a banner hanging outside of his business was stolen stolen five times in just the last year and a half.

Murfreesboro Business Machines Owner, Jerry Beaird, said he hasn't tried to hide the fact that he doesn’t agree with the policies supported by President Obama.  He decided to put up a banner in the front of his business about seven years ago that read: “Save America, Fire President Obama.”

Beaird said he showed up to work Monday to find that someone ripped the sign down yet again - only a few shreds of it remained.

A check of surveillance footage showed that someone ripped the sign down Friday night.

Beaird said he understood not everyone agrees with his political beliefs, but in this case, he said that wasn't the point.

“The person who is tearing the banner down has every right to say what he or she believes, but so do I," Beaird said.

Beaird has invited the person who stole his banner to give him a call to talk about their political differences, instead of acting on them.  If that doesn’t work, Beaird said he has offered a $500 reward for the arrest of the banner thief.

He said each banner cost about $350 apiece to replace.
