RUTHERFORD CO., Tenn. (WTVF) — A Murfreesboro man is accused of murdering his estranged wife, after officers found her body in a ditch Monday.

The Rutherford County Sheriff's office says Brecka Nicole Lugo, 29, was found dead near her home in Midland.

Her parents reported her missing Monday morning, upon finding her two children alone at their house on New Zion Road.

Sheriff's dispatch received a call about a woman's body found a few miles away on Oak Grove Road.

Detectives identified the body as Lugo's and said evidence from the scene indicated homicide.

Upon investigation they identified her estranged husband Juan Lugo, 41, as the suspect.

Deputies found and stopped him on Interstate 24.

After an interview, Juan was charged with first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.

He is being held on $500,000 bond. A hearing is set for June 6.
