MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – A man was able to scare away an intruder when he fired a shot at the suspect inside his Rutherford County home.
The incident happened at a home on Dunraven Drive in Murfreesboro.
Officials with the Murfreesboro Police Department said the homeowner heard his garage door open and went to investigate.
As he walked toward his kitchen, he reportedly spotted an intruder wearing a dark-colored hoody and holding a shotgun.
The homeowner was able to grab a weapon and fire a single shot at the intruder, scaring him away. The bullet struck a wall in the home.
Police were working to locate the suspect.
