Officers with the Murfreesboro Police Department made a large drug bust on two alleged gang members.
It was all part of a growing investigation which includes federal agents.
Detective said several handguns and even an AR-15 style rifle were confiscated. All were stolen, and possibly used to commit other crimes.
"The ballistics results will be sent to the ATF," said Sgt. Kyle Evans with the Murfreesboro Police Dept.
But stolen guns are only part of the equation. Detectives with the Murfreesboro Police Department's Special Investigation Unit confiscated much more.
Vacuum sealed pouches of high-grade marijuana ready for re-sale, a large amount of crystal methamphetamine and more than $37,000 in cash, mostly small denominations, were found.
All of it had possible links to a Asian gang here in the mid-state. "The ultimate goal of any gang is to make money. They do so with the sale of illegal drugs and the transaction of illegal stolen weapons," said Sgt. Evans.
Vice and gang detectives served a warrant at a home on Battle Avenue near downtown Murfreesboro and arrested these two suspects.
Both have alleged links to gangs and both face felony drug and firearms charges. Police said getting the guns and drugs off the streets was crucial, but confiscating the cash hits gangs where it hurts.
"When we seize such a large amount of money it certainly has an impact on what they are doing at least locally here in Murfreesboro," said Evans.
The two alleged gang members are in the Rutherford county jail and could face federal charges.
Police said more arrests are pending. This investigation began with arrests last month and now includes both the TBI and ATF.
