From up-and-coming acts to big stars, musicians will soon have a new place to perfect their craft in Donelson.
Fort Knox Studios Nashville will be located on Massman Drive. It will feature almost 190,000 square feet of space designed to be a one stop resource for musicians.
The facility will have 25 fully equipped, hourly rehearsal rooms. Each space is about 300 square feet, and can be rented for $8 an hour, per person.
In addition, 80 larger rehearsal rooms can be rented monthly starting at $500. The building will feature office space, as well.
Jeff Syracuse, the Metro Council Member for district 15, said there is nothing like this concept currently in Nashville.
“This is kind of like a complete creative ecosystem, if you will,” said Syracuse. “It could be a rehearsal facility for anyone in the industry, from those who have big tours, to those who tour regionally.”
The company owns a similar facility in Chicago that has been very successful. The company’s co-founder, Kent Nielsen, said Nashville was the perfect place to expand.
Syracuse added Fort Knox Studios Nashville is easily accessible and is close to the airport for convenience.
Nielsen said he is planning to relocate from Chicago to Nashville to oversee the construction. The first phase of the project will be complete in April of 2017. After determining additional needs, a second phase will be added.
