NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Art isn't just beautiful, it's also therapeutic -- even healing. Nashville non-profit MyCanvas Youth Arts is helping vulnerable kids through art and music workshops.

MyCanvas gives underserved kids living in at-risk communities healthy coping skills and self-esteem. The free workshops are offered in local neighborhoods like Cheatham Place Housing Project.

LeeAnn Love is the co-founder and a certified art therapist. She is preparing for their annual art show, featuring work from students all over Music City and says even kids who don't think they're artists soon realize they are.

"That's what art therapy is all about," she said, "We really like everyone to feel successful. You are a winner no matter what."

MyCanvas was chosen as the featured charity for the March 21st Nashville Predators game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. During the game, the Nashville Predators Foundation will host a fundraising drive to help support mobile art workshops. Them on March 22nd, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. The art show will take place at the community room at Cheatham Place (1564 9th Avenue North, Nashville).
