NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Nashville author Jeremy Scott has created a world where being different is discussed.

"[The characters] all have super powers but they also have disabilities that, in many cases, impact their ability to use those powers," he said. "So they get to superhero High School and they find out that they're in special education because the superhero community doesn't think that they're going to be capable."

It's called "The Ables," a story about superheroes who are trapped between regular human life and superhero existence. They're not quite human and not your typical comic book characters.

"The idea is to be able to be every bit as superhero as anybody else," he said.

Scott says the idea came to him about 10 years ago and just never left.

"Eventually I realized I had to write this to get it out of my brain," he said.

A writer since childhood, he is also the founder of a successful YouTube channel CinemaSins, reviewing popular movies for millions of followers, nearly 9-million subscribers at last check.

Now he hopes that audience and others follow him on this new journey -- and says all are welcome.

"I think everybody wants at some point in their life to be a hero, whether you're a little kid or a grown-up we all want to save the day," he said.

The sequel, titled "Strings," comes out in September. "The Ables" is available through Amazon and Barnes & Noble .
