Prominent Nashville business and civic community leader Kitty Moon Emery has died. She was 70 years old.

Moon Emery graduated from Stephens College with a major in film and television production and began orchestrating fundraising activities at public television stations in Nashville and Tallahassee, Florida.

After she left Tallahassee, she became Press Secretary for U.S. Senator Bill Brock in Washington, D.C. – one of only two female senatorial Press Secretaries at the time.

She later moved to New York, and she served as Associate Director of Advertising for Ronald Reagan’s first presidential campaign.

Upon her return to Nashville, she co-founded Scene Three, Inc. – a film and television production company which, according to a release, grew into one of the largest and most successful production companies in the Southeast.

She also worked to bring professional sports to Nashville and served on the Nashville Sports Authority from 1998 until 2008.

She is survived by Patrick Emery, her husband of 18 years.

A celebration of life has been set for 11 a.m. on February 15 at Woodmont Christian Church. Visitation at the church has been planned for February 14 from 4 to 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to the Kitty and Pat Emery Fund for Nashville at The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, 3833 Cleghorn Ave., Suite 400, Nashville, TN 37215.
