Record crowds celebrated the 11th Annual Hot Chicken Festival on the 4th of July in Nashville.
Throughout the day visitors sipped on local beer and food over at East Park, but things heated up when chefs brought out their secret recipes for the amateur cooking competition.
Nashvillians weren't the only ones excited about hot chicken.
"One of my high school classmates made his way all the way down here from Pennsylvania just to be here for the hot chicken festival today. And we've sent hot chicken to the world. There's hot chicken now in every point of the compass in America and hot chicken's being served in Europe as well and its always being called Nashville hot chicken," said Bill Purcell.
All proceeds from the festival went directly to Friends of Shelby which works to preserve Shelby Park and Shelby Bottoms.
