While margaritas and beer flowed on May 5 at restaurants across America for Cinco De Mayo, few people of Mexican decent actually joined the party.
For a lot of people, Cinco De Mayo means margaritas after work, but for many it's just another Friday.
It was an average day at the Linbar market in South Nashville; in fact, those inside the store said the Latino community hasn't embraced the Americanized celebration.
The holiday is often confused with the Mexico's Independence day in September.
"Some people think its like our independence day, but its really not. It was like a big battle we won against France. Here it is very big, but for us, not really," said Arturo Gonzalez.
The Hispanic Chamber told NewsChannel 5 they hope that future generations will embrace the holiday.
