NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A 28-year-old man has been arrested and charged in a deadly shooting overnight.
Metro police said Brandon Dement was charged with criminal homicide after he allegedly shot his fiancee, 21-year-old Cortney Moyers, inside their Ewing Drive residence.
Officers said Moyers was found shot in the head around 10 p.m. Monday, she later died at the hospital. Dement told investigators he and Moyers were drinking when they got into an argument. He said he was holding a pistol to himself when Moyers tried to intervene by grabbing his arm that was holding the gun. Dement reported that the pistol discharged, hitting Moyers in the head.
He is being held in the Downtown Detention Center without bond.
