NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A Nashville mother is facing charges for the death of her five-month-old child.
Shalonda Weems, age 30, was taken into custody Monday and charged with 1st degree felony murder and aggravated child neglect.
Five-month-old Karma Weems died back in 2005 after being taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with extreme malnutrition and dehydration. Detectives recently reactivated the case which led to murder charges.
Shalonda Weems was taken into custody without incident at her home on Green Street. She is behind bars and awaiting a hearing before a Criminal Court judge.
