NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — One teen is dead after a shooting Monday evening in South Nashville.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the shooting happened around 5:45 p.m. in a woodline off Benzing Road between 16-year-old Misael Juarez-Nunez and 13-year-old Abiel Euceda.

Juarez-Nunez reportedly told police he and Euceda were playing with a loaded gun when Euceda was shot. Juarez-Nunez stayed on the scene after the shooting and attempted to render aid.

Police said in August that detectives are investigating a claim that this was an accidental shooting. On September 1, Juarez-Nunez was charged with criminal homicide in the deadly shooting.

A GoFundMe for Euceda's family has been set up to raise money for the funeral.
