NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Below freezing temperatures have prompted Nashville to open its overflow shelter.

Nashville’s Emergency Operations Center tweeted Tuesday that the overflow shelter will be open from 7 p.m. Wednesday until 7 a.m. Thursday. It’s located at the vacant Davidson County Sheriff’s Office at 5131 Harding Place.

Metro’s Cold Weather Overflow Shelter is activated when the local forecast reaches 28 degrees or below.

There will be a staging area at the Salvation Army on Dickerson Pike. The EOC encouraged everyone to utilize the Room In The Inn and the Nashville Rescue Mission. Young people, ages 18-24, can also use Launch Pad.
