Many tourist destinations, retailers and restaurants offer special deals and freebies over the holiday weekend for veterans, active military members, and the general public. 

The team at rounded up a number of the best holiday deals out there. Whether you love roller coasters, fine art or a classic cheeseburger, you'll find something to enjoy this holiday weekend.

Veteran and active military freebies and deals

All veterans and active military members should bring military identification to take advantage of these offers.

  • Does your family enjoy exploring museums? More than 2,000 Blue Star museums around the country offer free admission to military personnel and families.
  • Get a free meal at Hickory Tavern
  • Veterans and active duty personnel will be treated to a free meal at Hooters. Choose a buffalo chicken salad, buffalo chicken sandwich, Hooters burger, or 10-piece traditional or boneless wings.
  • King’s Dominion offers free park admission to active and inactive US service personnel with valid ID get free park admission.
  • Knots Berry Farm commemorates Memorial Day with free admission to both Knott’s Berry Farm and Knott’s Soak City for veterans and active duty personnel when they show a valid ID.  
  • LaMar’s Donuts wants active and retired military personnel to enjoy a free coffee and donut.
  • Logan’s Roadhouse opens its doors to veterans and active duty personnel to receive 15 percent off food and drink with uniform or military ID.
  • McCormick & Schmick’s invites all active and inactive members of the military and National Guard in for a free lunch or dinner entree.
  • Shoney’s offers veterans and active duty military members a free all-American burger and fries. The burger features a handmade 100-percent beef patty served on a toasted corn-dusted bun with lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, pickles, and optional cheese.
  • Twin Peaks offers former and active military personnel, police, firefighters, and first responders can  a free meal from the Twin Peaks Memorial Day Appreciation Menu.
