DENVER -- He’s only 12-years-old, but Weston Imer nearly brought the house down during Republican Vice Presidential candidate Gov. Mike Pence’s town hall meeting Wednesday.
Imer, who said he’s been a political junkie since he was 5-years-old, took the podium before Gov. Pence and preached why people should be voting for Donald Trump and announced his creation of Colorado Kids for Trump.
“So I have about eight kids all in all in the group and we’re on Facebook, so that’s the easiest way to get to us, we’re getting a website set up, hopefully soon, we will also be getting a Twitter page and we are also on Instagram,” said Imer.
Imer addressed Gov. Pence during the town hall question and answer portion, asking what the campaign will do with Common Core if elected.
He also asked to meet Gov. Pence backstage, a request that was granted.
Imer is hopeful that we’ll be able to speak with Trump and get some help in getting Colorado Kids for Trump off the ground.
“I gave him my information and he said him and Mr. Trump would be in contact with me as soon as possible and he’s going to be with Mr. Trump on Friday and probably even talk to him sooner than that on the phone, so hopefully I’ll be receiving a call from him and as soon as I get out of here I’ve got to take my phone off of silent,” said Imer.
Imer is urging parents to talk to kids about politics and get them involved at an early age.
While he isn't eligible to run for president just yet, Imer said he will run in 2040.
