WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — A helicopter carrying seven people crashed on a New Zealand glacier on Saturday, and authorities said they were still trying to reach the scene to assess whether there were deaths or injuries.
The helicopter crashed on Fox Glacier, a popular tourist spot, said Maritime New Zealand.
A rescue helicopter was flying to the crash site and would winch down a paramedic to assess the situation, the agency said.
Tourism companies regularly fly visitors onto the scenic glacier so they can view it up close. It wasn't immediately clear if the helicopter that crashed was carrying tourists.
