Here's what Google's new article fact-check feature is all about

Posted

There's just a whole bunch of fake news out there, and Google wants to help readers find the real stuff.

Earlier this week, the Internet giant launched a fact-checker feature to label Google News articles. The feature looks for markup in the source code, and it looks for those that follow common criteria for fact checks.

"We’re excited to see the growth of the Fact Check community and to shine a light on its efforts to divine fact from fiction, wisdom from spin," Google's announcement says.

Fact Check labels will be seen on Google News in both the U.S. and U.K.
