Some of the stars in attendance Sunday evening at the 89th Oscars in Hollywood wore blue ribbons on their formal gowns and tuxedos.

The statement was a show of solidarity with the American Civil Liberties Union. The ACLU issued a message encouraging Oscars attendees to wear the blue ribbons, saying they are "for the rights and civil liberties guaranteed by the Constitution to everyone in the United States."
