A Pennsylvania woman was found dead in a barn this week after her abusive husband was released from jail.

Tierne Ewing, 48, was discovered Tuesday night with a gunshot wound to her head. She was found in a West Finley Township barn, according to Time.

Her husband, 47-year-old Kevin Ewing, was recently jailed for holding her hostage but had since been released on house arrest. He was found in the same barn with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but is still alive.

Kevin Ewing was arrested in early July after allegedly holding his wife hostage for two weeks, during which time he beat, pistol-whipped, tied her up, spat on her and branded her with hot metal, Tierne Ewing claimed.

Tierne Ewing escaped on July 8 and her husband was charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and unlawful restraint.

He was resulted on July 11 after posting $100,000 bond.

But on Tuesday, Kevin Ewing cut off his ankle bracelet and abducted his wife. Police subsequently found him wounded in the barn near his dead wife.

Kevin Ewing has been hospitalized and faces a slew of new charges.
