A Maryland elementary school principal disciplined a fifth-grader after the student showed cocaine to other kids during recess activities.

In a letter written to parents on Tuesday, Principal Tamara Kelly of Belle Grove Elementary School said that "One of the students showed several other students a plastic bag containing a white, powdery substance."

Kelly further explained, "We have taken appropriate disciplinary action with regard to the student who had the bag, and are continuing to investigate how he came into possession of it."

She urged parents to discuss the incident with their children.
