Teen's death ruled suicide by cobra

A teenager found dead in a Texas parking lot in July was killed by a cobra, officials said.

But there's a twist: Officials ruled the teen allowed the cobra to bite him in order to end his life.

Grant Thompson, 18, had multiple bites. Information included in an autopsy report obtained by KVUE-TV says Thompson did not attempt to pull away from the snake and allowed the multiple bites to occur.

The cobra was housed with other animals, including tarantulas, in a container in the rear of Thompson's car, according to reports. It had been missing after Thompson was found unresponsive, which spurred a hunt for the snake.

The cobra was found days later near an interstate, according to USA Today. Cobra venom causes paralysis, which leads to lung failure.

Thompson had been an employee of his family's pet store and was a known reptile lover.
