Trader Joe's expands recall of frozen products over listeria concerns

Trader Joe’s has widened its recall of certain frozen products over listeria concerns, expanding it to include more than just vegetables.
 
According to the company’s website, the recall now includes Trader Joe’s Vegetable Fried Rice (SKU/Barcode 00521482) and Chicken Fried Rice (SKU/Barcode 00332514) and Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice (SKU/Barcode 00332514.
 
Both products have been removed from stores shelves and destroyed.
 
“If you purchased these products, please do not eat them,” Trader Joe’s said in a statement. “We urge you to discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund.”
 
Trader Joe’s was one of the companies using products manufactured by CRF Frozen Foods that werefeared to contain listeria. The recall impacted hundreds of consumer products and dozens of separate brands earlier this month.

The FDA describes Listeris as “an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.”
