UK police say stabbing treated as 'terrorist incident'

LONDON (AP) — Britain's Scotland Yard says a stabbing incident at a London Underground station is being treated as "terrorist incident."

The London police counterterror command says in a statement late Saturday that it is investigating the incident at Leytonstone Underground station in east London. Authorities were called to the station at around 7 p.m. (1900 GMT) to investigate reports of "a number of people" stabbed. One person sustained serious injuries.

One person was arrested.

The authorities did not say why they believe the incident was terror-related.

The terror threat level in Britain remains at severe.
