A half-second of time was just enough to save a Colorado State Patrol trooper's life.

Video shows the trooper investigating a crash on March 18, while standing along Highway 36 in Superior, Colorado.

As he walks around near the crash scene, a driver comes up quickly in the lane closest to the shoulder.

The trooper jumps at the exact time the driver swerves to miss him, avoiding what could have been a tragedy.

CSP released the video to remind drivers to slow down and switch lanes when they see a crash.

"The driver has not been found but we hope she (and everyone that watches) will remember that lives can change -or be lost- in an instant," troopers wrote on Facebook.

CSP added that with snow, ice and rain this time of year, safe driving is crucial.
