NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Across the country, a new report shows more young adults are heading to the suburbs to rent apartments, and even moving back in with their parents in the age of COVID-19.

But apartment rental experts in Nashville say among young adults that trend is actually reversed here.

It's prompting a move in Nashville into the city center because experts say there are so many new apartments now built in the area.

"Most of the new product being built in Nashville is downtown, so there’s these apartment owners who are going to rent those apartments at a rate they will lease, they’re not going to sit empty for two years," said Joel Sanders, owner of Apartment Locators.

Apartment Locators says whether that trend increases will depend on employment numbers as we enter another COVID-19 surge.
