A lineman was killed after being electrocuted while on the job.

Authorities said the worker was shocked while working on lines at Nolensville Pike and Tanksley Avenue around 1 p.m. Thursday.

The lineman was identified as 27-year-old Greg A. Turner of Anniston, Alabama. He worked for the Davis H. Elliott Co.

Police say Turner accidently made contact with a live wire when he was shocked. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he later died.

Nashville Electric Service Vice President of Power System Operations Jack Baxter said, "At this hour, our thoughts and prayers are with our fellow lineman and his family."
