A new steakhouse, filling a niche left behind when Charlie's Steakhouse in Hopkinsville burned down several years ago by employing Ft. Campbell military families.
Armando Dominquez has nearly a decade of cooking experience; he also just retired from the military.
"If I wasn't here, I'd be looking for a job," Dominquez said.
Ellie Ellis and her family just moved to Fort Campbell in January.
"My husband is in the Army," Ellis said.
She knows all to well, the struggle that comes with being a military spouse.
"When people hear that you're military, they know that you're not staying long. So you get the oh, you're military that's great, and you never get a call back," Ellis said.
So she was relieved to find a special kind of employment ad a few weeks ago.
"The thing that caught my eye was the fact that he wanted at least half of his staff to be from Fort Campbell," she said.
That idea came from the restaurant co-owner, Joey Allen, who's also a Navy Veteran.
"I was a master chief cryptologist in the Navy. I served for 24 years," said Allen.
After retiring in 2006, he went into the liquor business, but when a life long friend came to him with an idea to open a steakhouse, Allen jumped on it and found an opportunity to serve military families.
"When I was on active duty, a lot of my sailors talked about the fact that their spouses could not get employment because they know in 3 years they're going to be moving," he said.
